Coddle, 2023, intaglio with soft-ground on cochineal paper pulp painted onto corn husk abaca and cotton paper with  hair inclusions, 20 x 30 inches, edition unique

My artwork explores materiality, origin, place, and maternal lineage. I was raised with the customs of my grandfather's Mexican heritage, which were passed on to my mother through religion and ritual. Through printmaking and embossing sacred and important materials like cochineal, hair, and plant matter, I am performing a ritual of healing and reflecting on my hereditary past.
